Creatures of Habit

Humans are creatures of habit. We all have something we do everyday, or every Sunday afternoon, etc. I was thinking about this as I dished up my salad from the rockin' salad bar at the COB.

My salad always consists of lettuce (duh!), spinach, peas, hard boiled egg whites (I try to pick out the yolks if I can get away with it and no one is looking), 1 sweet pickle, 1 beet, 1/4 C. cottage cheese, and lemon juice on top. Every darn day.

Other habits that I have:
I put my left shoe on first. One day I picked up my right shoe and went to put it on and it felt oh so wrong. I had to put it down and start with the left.

I like to go to bed with my socks on, but about midnight kick them off. Every night.

If I ride the bus - going to work I tend to sit on the left side of the bus, coming home is the right side. Weird.

I fall asleep on my left side nearly every night (so does Berkley). Once in awhile I'll be on my stomach.

Every morning I hit my snooze at least once, but usually 3 times. I cannot remember the last time I got up right when my alarm went off.

Oatmeal every morning sometime between 8-8:30am, 3 minutes in the microwave and there is a little line in my mug so I know exactly how much water to put in it. Not too runny, not to pastey. Oh so right!

What kind of creature are you????

love this idea so I answered on my blog and encouraged others to do this same post on their blogs.

I will call my comments "The Rest of the Story" concerning Nancy and her habits. She always gets her salad dressing on the side, and it's always "fat-free". Her favorite dessert is a carmel-cashew milkshake from jcw's, and would get nothing else until they gave her a shake with cashews but no carmel and she has not been able to order the same shake since. She falls asleep on her left side every night because I sleep on her "right" side and she is such a light sleeper, she needs to create her invisible shield of solitude to effectively go to sleep. (That and she thinks I give off heat like a blast furnace) She has to listen to "weird" radio (infomercials, bible thumping sermons, & radio dramas from the 1930's) to fall asleep, yet me watching sportcenter at a volume level barely audible is like a marching band going through the bedroom. When she sleeps on her tummy, she always has her finger on her cheek between her nose & eye with her thumb under her chin. As far as her kicking off her socks in the middle of the night, all I can say is that isn't the only thing she kicks off

Hmmm, let me think.

I have to brush my teeth before my shower. Must.

Every morning the "kids off to school" ritual is the same. Michael up first, then down to put two waffles in the toaster and start a load of laundry, take the first two waffles up to Michael and two new ones in, then Hannah up and then McKay up. (Michael first because he dawdles.) Then second batch of waffles to McKay and doing Hannah's hair while she eats Cheerios. Then I unload clean dishes until the bus comes.

I'll ponder some more.
